The Vetenari story is about an oath.
"I solemnly swear to use my scientific knowledge and skills for the benefit of society through the protection of animal health and welfare, the prevention and relief of animal suffering, the conservation of animal resources, the promotion of public health, and the advancement of medical knowledge."
These words are from the Veterinarian's Oath. But at Vetenari, we believe this oath belongs to everyone — because we believe that our health and animal health are deeply connected.
Our pets become treasured companions and family members. When they suffer, we suffer.
Our food supply and our economy depend on healthy herds and livestock. When they are at risk, we are at risk.
And as we've become acutely aware of in recent years, even our public health is directly tied to the health of the wildlife we share this planet with. The difference between knowing or not knowing whether an animal is carrying a disease could mean the difference between lives saved, or lives lost.
Why we built Vetenari
Our animals face bacterial and viral infections, cancer, and other metabolic diseases — just like us. But diagnosing an animal can be much more difficult than diagnosing a person, for one simple reason: they can't speak for themselves.
Thankfully, science and technology can.
Just as the PCR test enabled people to be diagnosed with speed and accuracy during the COVID-19 pandemic, diagnostic testing for our animals means faster and more accurate diagnoses — leading to more effective treatment options and less suffering. This is why we started Vetenari.
